In January 2023, the U.S. Department of State, in coordination with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, launched the Welcome Corps, a new program that empowers everyday Americans to welcome refugees. The Welcome corps is a United States’ approach to refugee resettlement, and builds upon a long tradition of providing to refugee, people forced to flee their countries. For more than 40 years, the Department of State partnered primarily with non-profit resettlement agencies to provide initial resettlement assistance to newly arriving refugees.

The Welcome Corps expanded this commitment by giving new opportunities for Americans charities to engage directly in refugee resettlement. Our organisation was appoved by the Welcome Corps program as a community based association considered to be closer to people known as refugees. 

En janvier 2023, le Département d'État américain, en coordination avec le Département américain de la Santé et des Services sociaux, a lancé le Welcome Corps, un nouveau programme qui permet aux Américains ordinaires d'accueillir les réfugiés. Le Welcome Corps est une approche américaine en matière de réinstallation des réfugiés et s’appuie sur une longue tradition d'hospitalite aux personnes forcées de fuir leur pays. Depuis plus de 40 ans, le Département d'État s'est associé principalement à des agences de réinstallation à but non lucratif pour fournir une aide initiale à la réinstallation des réfugiés nouvellement arrivés.

Le Welcome Corps a élargi cet engagement en offrant de nouvelles opportunités aux organisations caritatives américaines de s'engager directement dans la réinstallation des réfugiés. Notre organisation a été approuvée par ce programme en tant qu'association communautaire considérée comme proche des personnes qui connaissent ou ayant quelqu'un qui est réfugié.

Mnamo Januari 2023, Idara ya Jimbo la Marekani, kwa uratibu na Idara ya Afya na Huduma za Kibinadamu ya Marekani, ilizindua Karibu Corps, mpango mpya unaowapa Waamerika uwezo wa kila siku kuwakaribisha wakimbizi. Makampuni ya kukaribisha ni mbinu ya Marekani ya kuwapatia wakimbizi makazi mapya, na inajenga utamaduni mrefu wa kutoa hifadhi kwa watu wanaolazimika kuzikimbia nchi zao. Our association has completed all the steps and has been approved to facilitate the resettlement of refugees as an official partner of the Welcome Corps program. 

Our job is to:

• Identify refugees: We work with families, relatives and immigrants from countries where forced migration has been experienced either because of conflicts, wars or mature disasters in order to identify their loved ones who require immediate resettlement.

• Submit the welcome plan to the program in order to be sponsored: If the identified refugee meets the Welcome corps criteria, our team proceeds to develop the reception plan to submit to the program in order to trigger a reunification procedure.

• Prepare the reception: Given that the process lasts 90 days for each declared refugee, our team is called upon to prepare and equip the place of temporary residence before the arrival of the newcomer.

• To welcome and resettle the newcomer: when the refugee arrives, our team mobilizes to facilitate the accommodation and integration of the new refugee into their new community. Our facilities include connectivity with the city, sharing of resources for necessary information related to public services, transportation, interpretation, applications for social services, health care and work, and others...

Notre association a franchie toutes les démarches et a été agréée pour faciliter la réinstallation des réfugiés en tant que partenaire officiel du programme Welcome Corps. 

Notre travail consiste à :

• Identifier les réfugiés : nous travaillons avec des familles, des proches et des immigrants provenant de pays où la migration forcée a été vécue en raison de conflits, de guerres ou de catastrophes majeures afin d'identifier leurs proches qui nécessitent une réinstallation immédiate.

• Soumettre le plan d'accueil au programme afin d'être parrainé : Si le réfugié identifié répond aux critères du Welcome corps, notre équipe procède à l'élaboration du plan d'accueil à soumettre au programme afin de déclencher une procédure de réunification.

• Préparer l'accueil : Étant donné que le processus dure 90 jours pour chaque réfugié déclaré, notre équipe est appelée à préparer et équiper le lieu de résidence temporaire avant l'arrivée du nouvel arrivant.

• Accueillir et réinstaller le nouvel arrivant : à l'arrivée du réfugié, notre équipe se mobilise pour faciliter l'hébergement et l'intégration du nouveau réfugié dans sa nouvelle communauté. Nos installations incluent la connectivité avec la ville, le partage de ressources pour les informations nécessaires liées aux services publics, au transport, à l'interprétation, aux demandes de services sociaux, aux soins de santé et au travail, et autres...

• Peana mpango wa kukaribisha kwa programu ili ufadhiliwe: Iwapo mkimbizi aliyetambuliwa anatimiza vigezo vya Welcome corps, timu yetu inaendelea kutengeneza mpango wa mapokezi wa kuwasilisha kwa mpango ili kuanzisha utaratibu wa kuungana tena.

• Tayarisha mapokezi: Kwa kuzingatia kwamba mchakato huchukua siku 90 kwa kila mkimbizi aliyetangazwa, timu yetu inaitwa kutayarisha na kuandaa mahali pa makazi ya muda kabla ya kuwasili kwa mgeni.

• Kukaribisha na kumpa nafasi mgeni: mkimbizi anapowasili, timu yetu huhamasishwa ili kuwezesha upangaji na ujumuishaji wa mkimbizi mpya katika jumuiya yao mpya.
